Lexus Luxury Car Division Believes The Storm

Toyota Motor Corporation launched the luxury car division Lexus in 1989, but the project began in 1983. The presidents of Toyota Motor Corporation at the time of Ejji Toyoda and plans to develop a range of cars that could compete with other luxury brands. Toyoda gathered his senior staff and a simple question. I was wondering if Toyota was capable of producing a luxury vehicle that could challenge the best luxury cars on the market. The project must be developed in secret and was given the code name F1 (Flagship + Number one vehicle).

The project took about five years to complete and appears to have been a resounding success. The first of the new luxury line to be introduced was the 400th LS Introduced for model year 1989-LS 400 has led the way, making Lexus the top-selling luxury car brand in the world. Toyota introduced Lexus in 68 countries and territories worldwide. Curiously, it was not to introduce Toyota Lexus in the Japanese market until 2005, although the Lexus cars were completely until 2003 when the factory Lexus RX 300 was opened in Ontario, Canada.

Since the release of the LS 400 sedan in 1989, Lexus has further expanded its line of popular vehicles to include another sedan, coupe, convertible and SUV models. By 2005, Lexus hybrid line was a factor.

Thinking and attention to detail went into planning at all stages of a new division of Toyota, a consulting firm Lippincott & Margulies and image was possible to grow a list of names of the new line. The first proposal for the company to include a list of 219 potential nicknames. Among the top choices include the names: Alexis, Calibre, Chaparel, Vectra and Verona. Alexis was a pioneer, but the Lexus was changed as the combination of "luxury" words and "elegance."

Because the U.S. market would be the main launch pad for luxury line up, a team of designers decided to watch the audience closely to determine what would be the most attractive in a luxury vehicle. To do this, several F1 designers rented a house in Laguna Beach in California to observe first-hand lifestyle and tastes of car buyers in upper middle class. This research has led Toyota to the conclusion that a completely separate line differs from the name Toyota would be preferable to introduce the online luxury market. Another division, with new exclusive Lexus dealerships have been developed for the U.S. market.

In January 1989 the new Lexus LS 400 was introduced in North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan. In September of that year, a new luxury car is on sale for the first time.

The success from the beginning, the Lexus LS400 sold 63 594 new models first. In 1991, Toyota has achieved their goal line and the new Lexus has achieved the title of best-selling luxury vehicle in the United States.
