Voices Surrounding The Mazda Rotary Engine Developments
The final chapter of the Mazda RX-8, the only model that uses a rotary engine, is coming to an end. But there is still hope for a rotary engine. However, Mazda is not ready to let go of a rotary engine again. It is said that Mazda is in the early stages of a rotating machine sports, perhaps the new RX-7 model.
Mazda engineers are currently Wankel rotary engine, will make it more efficient, reducing CO2 emissions will continue to Mazda's eco-friendly actions. Senior Mazda insider says that if a new sports car spinning receives adequate funding, the goal is to reduce CO2 emissions from the current RX-8 levels only 299g/km 130g/km.
One way that Mazda is trying to achieve emission reductions through the use of laser ignition. Eliminates the need for spark plugs, ignition laser can seal the combustion chamber more easily. Allegedly, the new rotary sports car will be modeled on the MX-5 platform and would eliminate the opposite door featured on the RX-8, which makes the vehicle weighs less than its predecessors. These changes and the use of lighter materials and installation of an automatic start / stop capabilities will result in increased efficiency.
Of course, micro-hybrid technology is an important step towards energy efficiency, like Mazda know. Allegedly met with the Audi Mazda to discuss the possibility of a rotary engine range is extended. This collaboration is not surprising, given that the new Audi A1 sedan based on the concept of e-tron uses a 254cc Wankel engine to extend its range. Rumour has it that Mazda is looking to partner with Audi, the German company that reproduce their motor system of the new Mazda rotary sports car.
However, Mazda keeps lips sealed. There is no definitive answer for the future of Mazda rotary sports car. Report of Car and Driver even denied plans for a hybrid sports car, and even said that the rotary engine was about to become extinct. On the other hand, in-line reports stated that the work on the Wankel engine is in fact already underway, so the possibility of a sports car rotating, very likely.
Time will tell if it continues the tradition of Mazda rotary engine. Many car enthusiasts are thrilled with the idea of a rotary engine RX-7. The truth about Mazda plans may remain unknown, but it's safe to say that the technology could be the next sport Mazda design in any direction you choose.
