BMW - All Car History Volume 16

BMW is a leading global manufacturer of quality cars and motorcycles, and is the parent company of brands MINI and Rolls-Royce car. BMW acronym stands for "Bayerische Motoren Werke" - or "Bavarian Motor Works" in English.

BMW models are classified according to this model of "series" of car, for example 3-series. BMW has a long history in motorsport, having been involved in motorsport since the creation of the first BMW motorcycle.

BMW HISTORY

BMW was founded in 1913 to make aircraft engines, go to motorcycle production in 1923 and automobiles in 1929. Its factories were damaged in World War II, the Allies seized the equipment and machine tools. BMW gradually recovered and in 1967 the company bought Hans Glas GmbH, one of whose factories had become the largest BMW factory.

BMW bought Rover Group in 1994 to sell MG Rover and Land Rover in 2000 but retains the rights to build the new Mini, launched in 2001.

In 1956, the BMW 507, sport was introduced, but only a total of 252 were built. Most of the work was done by hand and cars are adapted to the individual desires of each buyer
